About Me
I started hand embroidering gifts for friends and family.
Honestly, they were pretty bad, but they help me practice and practice and eventually get better with the craft.
Throughout this exploration process, I fell in love with the possibilities of the thread and the needle and started to create more elaborated designs, mixing with acrylic or watercolor painting, beading, appliqués or felt patches from time to time.
Currently I do commission works and teach workshops around my community
If you want to learn more about my journey and my art, see my complete “About Me” page.

Jappi Monday!!
Here’s a little bit of all the stitching and creative fun we had last week during our Hand Embroidery Spring Break Kids Camp at the @elpasomuseumofart
These kids are super crazy talented and they really kept me on my toes about many things Gen Alpha that I totally ignored (oh boy!)😆😂
And don’t worry, we’ll be back at the museum in summer, so stay tuned for upcoming registrations.
As always, thank you parents for trusting us with your most precious.
Los wachamos soon!!!

💙💛Yesterday was World Down Syndrome Day💛💙
The 21st day of the 3rd month signifies the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome.
This day was created to celebrate the lives of people with Down syndrome and to make sure they have the same freedoms and opportunities as everybody else.
Many of you have seen or have met my son Mateo.
He’s basically the founder and CEO of CushiCushi915.
He was there with me on my very first hand embroidery class back in 2022 at @jmcreationselpaso
He loves hanging out with us, as long as we provide good snacks and good music😆
He LOVES riding the @elpasostreetcar , petting the dogs at the markets and he’s always carrying his furry friend Grover.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to share a little bit about DS and him.
Thank you to those of you that have embraced him and included him in our conversations and interactions.
Thank you for treating him with dignity and respect, for allowing him extra time for processing, and for engaging directly with him. Your patience, friendliness and respect is what helps him feel comfortable and integrated.
Thank you for helping us build a better and kinder world, for him and for all people with different abilities💙💛💙💛💙💛💙💛

Mi mamá is my queen 👑
Relentless, fearless, super hardworking and with a heart full of love and compassion.
Like many mujeres growing up in the 60’s, life was sometimes very unfair, difficult and challenging , but she never gave up. Luchona 100%!!!
She’s the woman of my life and therefore you’ll probably have seen her at some of my events with me.
This is a photo from her when she was expecting me🥰 (I think?!), and I wanted to do a little homage to her.
If you have a picture around of someone you love that you wish to add embroidery, consider joining my Photo Embroidery on Fabric class on Saturday 31, from 3pm to 5pm.
After signing up, make sure to email me your picture.
Let’s create beautiful hand embroidered mementos.
Aca los wacho!!

14 year old me: ‘Mom!!! Why you don’t let me go out and come back late, the same way you allow my brothers???!!!’
Mom: ‘porque tú eres mujer!!’
I fought so much with my mom like this.
And it wasn’t that she was super strict, but I wanted more freedom.
It truly didn’t make any sense to me that my brothers wouldn’t get scolded if they came back home late.
I wanted that freedom, their freedom.
But I couldn’t.
And I ended up understanding my mother,
until I had my own daughter.
As soon as she was born, I knew I didn’t want her to feel like she had to take any man’s lewd comments, aggressions, threats.
I knew I didn’t want her ever to be touched by anyone without consent.
I knew I didn’t want her ever to ride public transportation or walk alone at night or in secluded areas.
I knew I wanted to feel she owned herself and NO was a final word that she could use at ANY moment.
And I’m not gonna lie, sometimes I still feel very anxious about her and out in the world, because I see what keeps happening to girls and women of any age around the world.
That’s why this day is important to me.
It’s not about happy.
It’s about gaining more and more of that freedom I soooooo craved when growing for ALL women anywhere.
That is the fight!💜✊🏽💜

We love deeply and unconditionally.
We create.
We work hard.
We provide.
We protect.
We care.
We fix.
We take charge.
We support.
We defend.
We cry and walk tall.
We hope.
We dream.
We take action.
We fail and start over.
We try again, and again, and again and again.
We got you.
We got us.
We got ourselves.
And yes, we run the world!💜

A lot of people ask me if embroidery or any other fiber art is good for kids and I think it’s an amazing medium for them.
Of course, there’s some safety concerns that come with using sharp needles and scissors, that’s why I like to introduce them around 10 years old.
So if you have a 10-13 year old fiber enthusiast, join us at the @elpasomuseumofart Spring Break Textile Arts Camp.
We’ll be creating fabric landscapes, felt plushies, hand embrodery, patches as well as mix media.
The museum is a great place to explore and feed the imagination. With all materials accessible to us.
For more information and to register, please visit @elpasomuseumofart on social media or email EPMAEDUCATION@ELPASOTEXAS.GOV
