Hope you’re having a great day!!
I’m happy to announce that I’ll be back teaching at the @elpasomuseumofart in May!!
Classes will start on Wednesday May 13th from 10am to 1pm and will continue for 6 weeks.

Classes at the museum are great for those that have jobs with flexible hours, stay at home parents (while kids are in school), for homeschooled teens (14 years and older), and for retirees.

With these classes, if you’re a beginner, you get a great introduction and practice not only to embroidery, but also to different ways of creating with textiles by hand like appliqué, felt toys and a brief introduction to weaving.

We talk a bit of the history of textile arts, the relevance of the medium, the materials and its purpose, and we’ll also learn about some prominent artists in the world of textile arts.

If you’re more experienced working with embroidery and textiles, you can treat the class like an open studio. This is a perfect opportunity to explore anything you’ve been wanting to learn and to push your creativity outside of your comfort zone.

You can learn Bargello or Crewel embroidery, or practice needle painting. You can also bring none conventional items to embroider on, like metal strainers, wire mesh, old postcards, vintage photographs, caned furniture, canvas shoes, vintage clothing or other types of fabric such as satin, velvet, denim, tulle, organza, etc.

This particular piece, has a bit more of metallic thread embroidery which can be a truly pain in the “you-know-where” to work with by hand, but totally worth it🙌

Make a beautiful candle with a glass jar, decorate it with dry flowers and select your favorite scent.

💙💛Yesterday was World Down Syndrome Day💛💙
The 21st day of the 3rd month signifies the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome.

This day was created to celebrate the lives of people with Down syndrome and to make sure they have the same freedoms and opportunities as everybody else.

Many of you have seen or have met my son Mateo.
He’s basically the founder and CEO of CushiCushi915.
He was there with me on my very first hand embroidery class back in 2022 at @jmcreationselpaso

He loves hanging out with us, as long as we provide good snacks and good music😆
He LOVES riding the @elpasostreetcar , petting the dogs at the markets and he’s always carrying his furry friend Grover.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to share a little bit about DS and him.

Thank you to those of you that have embraced him and included him in our conversations and interactions.
Thank you for treating him with dignity and respect, for allowing him extra time for processing, and for engaging directly with him. Your patience, friendliness and respect is what helps him feel comfortable and integrated.
