‘Barro Bordado’ (embroidered clay) originates from Oaxaca, Mexico, specifically the town of Santa María Atzompa, where it is a centuries-old tradition of pottery craftsmanship.
The technique involves molding local clay by hand and decorating it with intricate, white, embossed patterns that resemble embroidery, celebrating the region’s rich cultural heritage and artistic expression.
Join me at Winedown Socorro and embroider a beautiful 5-inch diameter botanical pattern inspired by this popular Mexican pottery technique.
