DÃa de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a Mexican holiday celebrated from October 31 to November 2 to honor and remember deceased loved ones.
The celebration involves creating altars called ofrendas with offerings like food, drink, marigolds and sugar skulls.
These edible skulls are made of sugar, often brightly decorated and sometimes featuring the name of a person on the forehead.
In this class, we’ll be embroidering a 5-inch diameter Calaverita pattern with Tenango embroidery, an iconic and vibrant technique from Hidalgo, Mexico.
